Julia Bollinger is a painter based in Virginia, USA. She received her BA in Studio Art at Colorado College in 2005 and attended Florence Academy of Art from 2015-16. Julia moved to the mountains of Virginia the following year, and her home terrain has heavily influenced her work.

Julia situates herself in place, responding to her surroundings and bodily experience to realize her pieces. She is currently working en plein air in oil, composing the paintings through sustained observation. Julia also creates intuitively and from memory in the studio, translating thoughts and feelings from her time communing with the subject into abstract and symbolic works. Through painting the relationship is alchemized and integrated.

The two creating processes are a way for the artist to explore the dimensions of being: the sensory translation experience of having a human body and the imaginal or dream reality ignited by the convergence of body and environment.
